 In Uttar Pradesh, the home of mafia figure Vinod Upadhyay's brother Sanjay is being demolished.  The home of Mafia Vinod Upadhyay's brother Sanjay Upadhyay was demolished on Sunday by the Gorakhpur District Administration. With a Rs 50,000 reward, Vinod Upadhyay is currently eluding police custody. In the gangster case, a non-bailable warrant has also been issued for his arrest. More than 30 cases, including ones involving attempted murder, the Gangster Act, and the Arms Act, are reportedly pending against Vinod. The demolition of Sanjay Upadhyay's house comes amid police attempts to catch the criminal brothers. "This was the land of a cold storage plant and was encroached upon by Vinod Upadhyay, Sanjay Upadhyay, and their gang members. Sanjay Upadhyay is currently absconding and has a reward of Rs 25,000 on him. He has many cases registered against him," said Krishna Bishnoi, SP City Gorakhpur."   (Credit: ANI)

1975 Emergency in India: Know why the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had imposed a nationwide Emergency in 1975. New Delhi : On this day (June 25), 47 years ago, former  Prime Minister Indira Gandhi  had imposed a nationwide state emergency which went down as one of the most notorious events in Indian history. It curtailed restrictions on civil liberties, press freedom and led to crackdowns against the Congress’ political oppositions. The order for imposing the Emergency was issued by President Fakhruddin Ali under Article 352 of the Constitution. Why did Indira Gandhi impose Emergency in 1975?   He cited ‘internal disturbances’ as the reason for invoking the order which cancelled elections and gave the Prime Minister unprecedented powers. The Indira Gandhi government also reasoned that there were threats to national security which required such strict measures. At the time, a war with Pakistan had recently ended due to which the economy had suffered leading to protests and strikes.

Woman Electrocuted To Death At New Delhi Railway Station Amid Rain; Probe Ordered

Delhi Police said the woman died of electrocution at the New Delhi railway station premises and a probe has been ordered in connection to the accident.   A woman reportedly died of electrocution at the New Delhi railway station premises on Sunday. The woman, who received a shock as Delhi witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall, died at the spot, officials said. The woman has been identified as Sakshi Ahuja, a resident of Preet Vihar in East Delhi. Sakshi had reached the railway station along with two other women and three children at 5.30 AM amid heavy rainfall, according to a  report by NDTV . She held onto a pole at the premises to avoid puddles but suffered an electric shock and died on the spot.
