A red alert was issued by the IMD for some areas of Maharashtra on July 24 due to the intense rains that have been battering the state, particularly Thane and Mumbai.              As rains batter Mumbai and cases of waterlogging get reported across the city, the biggest casualties is the city’s real estate sector. With heavy rains and thunderstorms forecast for Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for many districts in Maharashtra amid ongoing rainfall in Mumbai that caused waterlogging in residential areas and on highways.
