Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha, denounced the Union budget 2024–25 on Wednesday, accusing it of being unfair to the states.According to Kharge, the union budget that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented left the "plates" of all states empty, with the exception of two: Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
“No state received anything,” Kharge said, naming states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and his home state Karnataka.
Kharge alleged that the budget was only to “please a few people” and protect the chair.
The Congress president made a jab at Sitharaman, the Karnataka representative in the upper house, stating, "I was expecting that I'll get the most."However, we received nothing.
Kharge joked, "Let me finish," as Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar requested the Leader of the Opposition to allow Sitharaman to speak.I am aware that Mataji is a skilled orator.)
"Yeh sab hua hai, kursi bachane ke liye...We're going to demonstrate against it and denounce it.Every coalition party in India will demonstrate...The seasoned Congressman said, "If there is no balance, how will development occur?" before leaving the Rajya Sabha.
