1 Kanwariya Killed, 12 Injured In Road Accident In UP: Cops
When the kanwariyas reached the Dharamshala overbridge, a speeding truck hit the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling, killing one of them and injuring 12, police said.
Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: 12 people were hurt and one kanwariya died when a speeding truck struck the tractor-trolley they were riding in here on Sunday, according to the police.
Around two in the morning on Saturday, the event happened near the Dharamshala overbridge, according to reports.
Kanwariyas were gathering water from the Saryu river and heading to the Moteshwer Mahadev shrine in Pipraich. A speeding truck struck the tractor-trolley they were riding in as they approached the Dharamshala overbridge, killing one of them and injuring 12 others, according to the police.
Akash Gupta (17) has been named as the deceased. According to them, the injured were taken to the district hospital, and one of them was brought to the medical college for care.
The truck driver was able to escape the scene but was later taken into custody, they claimed.
Visiting the district hospital and the medical college, District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh and Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover met the injured.
