Chirag Paswan has decided to join NDA: BJP chief Nadda ahead of July 18 meeting

Chirag Paswan, leader of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has decided to join the NDA alliance, according to BJP chief JP Nadda.

BJP national president JP Nadda met LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan.

According to BJP chief JP Nadda's announcement on Monday, Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has chosen to join the NDA coalition led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chirag Paswan was welcomed into the "NDA family" by Nadda, who met him in Delhi.

In Delhi, I met Shri @iChiragPaswan ji. He has made the decision to join the NDA coalition under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi. I welcome him to the NDA family," Nadda wrote in a Hindi tweet alongside two images of Paswan.

Later, Paswan reaffirmed that Ram Vilas of the Lok Janshakti Party would attend the upcoming NDA conference.

Paswan met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well, and he reported that the two had fruitful discussions about the problems with the BJP coalition. The encounter is crucial because Chirag and his uncle Paras have been engaged in a verbal battle over the Hajipur seat, which Ramvilas Paswan has won a record nine times since 1977.

After Ramvilas opted not to run, Paras won the election there in 2019, while Chirag won the Jamui election thrice between 2014 and 2019.

Chirag intends to run from Hajipur after the passing of his father, and he has also been organising public rallies, but Paras has explicitly stated that there is no need to look outside of the seat he won in 2019 in front of his brother Ramvilas Paswan.

Nadda stated earlier in the day that the BJP is preparing for a meeting in Delhi on Tuesday to demonstrate its support for the party-led National Democratic Alliance. On July 18, when opposition parties conduct their second summit in Bengaluru, the BJP-led NDA meeting will be held.
