Imran Khan drama made Pakistan laughingstock of the world: Joe Biden's adviser

Pakistan spoils relations with the countries and institutions where its interests are connected, he said.

After US senators sent a generic letter to the Pakistani government addressing the country's human rights situation, Shahid Ahmed Khan, US President Joe Biden's advisor on the arts, asserted that the US had no involvement in Pakistan's internal affairs.

He added that the letter was not addressed to Imran Khan and that it was instead about Pakistan, noting that the previous prime minister's "cypher drama" had made the nation a laughing joke around the world. Due to its relationship with China, Pakistan continues to be an important country for the US and is not disregarded by Washington, he said.

If the letter from the American senators had been that significant, Pakistan would not have gotten help from the IMF. Shahid Ahmed Khan kept talking.

He claimed that Pakistan ruins relationships with nations and institutions where its interests are intertwined and that the IMF was dissatisfied with the country's local leadership. He added that the failure to implement the accord reached during the previous administration had angered the IMF.

He claimed that the majority of Pakistanis living in the US are uninterested in US politics and that American diplomats did not even bring up the subject with the Pakistani government.

The Imran Khan claims, which culminated to his removal from office in April of last year by parliamentary vote, are connected to the Cypher affair. Using the cipher as evidence, Imran Khan claimed that Washington had organized a plot to have him removed from office.

Imran claimed earlier this week that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led government is trying to "disqualify him" from running in elections by reviving the cypher scandal.

Asif Ali Zardari, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Shehbaz Sharif, and other individuals were accused by the PTI leader of planning a scheme to remove him from the political scene.
