On July 7, there will be a hearing on the chargesheet against Brij Bhushan Singh.
On Saturday, the Delhi Police said that its investigation into the sexual harassment claim made against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was ongoing and that it was still awaiting the FSL report and call detail records.
WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of sexual harassment by women wrestlers.A Delhi court set the hearing regarding the cognisance of charges against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, in relation to sexual harassment claims made against him by six female wrestlers, for July 7.
On Saturday, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court inquired of the Delhi Police as to what reports are still pending in relation to the case. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) results are pending and would take some time, the Delhi Police informed the court.
Harjeet Singh Jaspal, an additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM), took notice of the city police's assertion that their investigation is still ongoing and that a supplemental charge sheet is likely to be issued. The case was subsequently put on the calendar for next week's hearing.
"However, it might take some time since the FSL report and the report on the CDR (call detail record) are pending. Submitted for review on July 7," the judge added.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a BJP member of parliament, has been charged by Delhi Police with sexual harassment and stalking. After numerous prominent wrestlers, including Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat, protested for weeks, the chargesheet was finally submitted.
Six-term member of parliament Singh was charged by the city police on June 15 with violating the IPC's sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force on a lady with the purpose to violate her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Vinod Tomar, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)'s suspended assistant secretary, was also charged with violating the IPC's sections 109 (abetting any offence, if the act is committed as a result and no specific provision is made for its punishment), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation).
