On Monday, groups led by Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit traded sackings, escalating the massive internal conflict inside the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare were expelled from the NCP by Sharad Pawar, the party's leader, who also fired Praful Patel as the functioning president of the organization. At a news conference, the Praful Patel and Ajit Pawar faction declared that Jayant Patil had been replaced as the state's NCP leader by Tatkare.
Ajit Pawar was appointed as the chairman of the NCP legislative section by Patel, who was once thought of as a close ally of Pawar Sr.
