Scores Well On Depravity: Smriti Irani Counters Congress' Failed Report Card Jibe At BJP Over Manipur

The Congress's report card stated that the women and child development minister was clueless regarding the women's plight and failed to address their issues.

News :  In the midst of widespread indignation over the horrifying video showing two Kuki community women being paraded naked in conflict-torn Manipur, Union Minister Smriti Irani responded to the report card issued by the Congress on Twitter on Saturday. The women and child development minister failed to address women's issues, according to the Congress party's evaluation of her performance. She woke up two months after the incident, according to the card.

Irani reacted to the report card by claiming that the Congress party did well on two counts: depravity and intentional ignorance. Few people, she continued, can keep a scorecard for women and exhibit willful ignorance, but Congress is excellent at both.

The Union minister posted to Twitter with the following statement: "There are depths of depravity very few are capable of -- keeping a score card re women. There are some cases of deliberate ignorance that only a select few persistently display. Congress performs admirably in terms of wickedness and willful stupidity. If the dynasty permits, discuss in Parliament.






Irani previously claimed that Congress is deaf to the mistreatment of women in Mamata Banerjee's West Bengal and silent in Rajasthan.

Mahua Moitra, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), responded to Irani's tweet and urged the minister of women's and children's affairs to get a dictionary so she could learn what "depravity" meant.

In response to the Manipur video's widespread anger, the BJP leaders are referencing instances of atrocities against women in other states, including as West Bengal and Rajasthan, while the Congress has accused the BJP of being responsible for the atrocity.

Two Kuki community women were paraded naked and sexually assaulted in front of a mob in a video that quickly became popular on social media. This incident aroused global indignation and raised significant concerns about the current state of affairs in the conflict-torn Manipur.
