Tension grips Haryana's Nuh after stones pelted at religious procession; internet restricted

The police lobbed teargas shells to disperse crowd and summoned troops from other areas as the two sides hurled stones at each other.

According to the police, some miscreants threw stones and lit cars on fire during a religious parade in Nuh, Haryana, injuring over 50 persons, including police officers.

According to the police, a group of men interrupted a religious procession called the "Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra" at Khedla Mod in Nuh. The procession had been set off from Gurugram's Civil Lines by BJP district president Gargi Kakkar.

At least four cars were set on fire, according to the official, and stones were thrown at the parade.

Anil Vij, the home minister for Haryana, reported that extra troops from neighboring districts had been dispatched by the government. Our top objective is to stabilize the situation.We are pleading with everyone to keep the peace.Additionally, we are attempting to dispatch soldiers via helicopter, he said to PTI.

He said that he discussed the situation with the director general of police, a second chief secretary, and other top authorities.

Ch Aftab Ahmed, a Congress lawmaker from Nuh, stated, "We are requesting to people to preserve calm and not pay attention to rumors. The circumstances are unfortunate. I have never witnessed such administrative and law enforcement failure.


The state administration has temporarily halted mobile internet connections till Wednesday, along with prohibitory orders forbidding gathering of people, as the tension seized the region. The police had fired teargas shells to disperse the throng.

 


"I, Home Secretary, Secretary, Haryana do hereby order the suspension of mobile internet services in the district Nuh in the state of Haryana and shall be in force, in order to prevent the spread of false information and rumors through various social media platforms, for facilitation and mobilization of mobs of agitators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by engaging in arson or vandalism, and other types of violent activities.


Conflicts reportedly broke out when Bajrang Dal leader Monu Manesar and his accomplices disseminated a disturbing video a few days prior and were set to participate in the march. Manesar is a cow vigilante accused of killing two Muslim males.

 Later, the police organized a flag march to keep the area safe and orderly. Nuh SHO Hukam Singh stated to PTI that "the situation in the area is stable."
