On the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which marks India's victory over Pakistan in the war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the valour of the soldiers who gave their supreme sacrifices

Kargil Vijay Diwas:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the gallantry of the soldiers who gave their lives in the Kargil war will always serve as an inspiration to his people. PM Modi paid tribute to the soldiers' bravery on the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which commemorates India's triumph over Pakistan in the conflict.

"Kargil Vijay Diwas puts to light the amazing story of those magnificent Indian bravehearts, who will always serve as an example for their fellow citizens. I salute and bow down before them on this unique day," the prime minister posted on Twitter. 



Rajnath Singh pays tribute to war heroes

Rajnath Singh, the Union Defense Minister, also remembered the bravery and sacrifice of the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War as he paid respect to them. Salute to all the fighters who gave their life to safeguard the country on Kargil Vijay Diwas, she said in a video greeting she shared on Twitter. 


 


Vijay Diwas event in Ladakh

The two-day commemoration of Vijay Diwas and the deaths of more than 500 soldiers in the 1999 Kargil began in Ladakh on Tuesday, July 25. At Lamochen Viewpoint, where combat heroes and the families of fallen troops remembered the heroic individuals, the festivities got underway. The Ladakh Scouts Regimental Center Fusion Band gave an impassioned performance of national anthems to kick off the Shaurya Sandhya festival.


 


Know about Kargil Vijay Diwas

It should be mentioned that India is celebrating the 24th anniversary of its Kargil War triumph against Pakistan. On July 26, 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' is observed annually to honor the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during the Kargil War. 

The Indian Army proclaimed the victorious conclusion of "Operation Vijay" on July 26, 1999. This came after a struggle that lasted nearly three months in the freezing heights of Kargil, including extremely high ground like Tololing and Tiger Hill. More than 500 troops reportedly gave their life for the protection and wellbeing of the nation.
