Ukraine Uses North Korean Rockets To Blast Russian Forces: Report

Ukraine's defence ministry suggested the arms were captured from the Russians, the report said.

North Korea and Russia deny conducting arms transactions.

The Financial Times reported on Saturday that Ukrainian forces had been seen using North Korean rockets that they said had been taken by a "friendly" nation before being handed to Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian defense ministry claimed that the Russians had stolen the weapons.

North Korean weaponry have not been widely seen on the battlefields in Ukraine, despite the United States' accusations that it has shipped weapons to Russia by sea and through other routes.

Both North Korea and Russia deny exchanging weapons.

According to the article, Ukrainian soldiers using Grad multiple-launch rocket systems from the Soviet era demonstrated North Korean weapons close to the ruined eastern city of Bakhmut, the scene of protracted, deadly combat.

The first trip by Moscow's top defense official to Pyongyang since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Sergei Shoigu made a rare trip there this week to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the conclusion of the Korean War.

At a military expo in Pyongyang, Shoigu was seen with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un seeing restricted ballistic missiles, indicating stronger connections between the two nations as they both contend with the United States.
