The BJP announced the lists a day after its central election panel met

New Delhi: First names of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh were released by the BJP today. This is the first time the BJP has done so before the Election Commission of India has declared the dates for the elections.

21 candidates for the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly and 39 for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh House have been announced by the party.

The statement comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting of the BJP's central election committee, the organization responsible for making decisions about candidate choice and the development of electoral strategy.

The BJP leadership appears to be trying to discover discord among the ranks so that problems may be handled well in advance with its unusual move to disclose candidates' names far in advance.

The party is not looking forward to another disaster after the vote failure in Karnataka earlier this year.Along with Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram, five states will have elections this year: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and.

Out of these, opposition groups are in charge in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.Following the violence in Manipur, relations between the BJP and its allies, the ruling Mizo National Front, are tense in Mizoram. And a tight race between the BJP and the Congress is anticipated in Madhya Pradesh.

Vijay Baghel, a Durg-based MP for the Lok Sabha, is one name that stands out on the Chhattisgarh list.He is a former Patan MLA who is running from the same seat this time.Former Chief Minister Raman Singh's name, along with that of other important party officials, is absent from the initial list.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and other notable ministers' names are not in the first list of contenders.

Five women, ten candidates from the Scheduled Tribes, and one candidate from the Scheduled Castes make up the BJP's Chhattisgarh list. The party has selected five women, eight candidates from scheduled castes, and 13 candidates from scheduled tribes for Madhya Pradesh.
