Delhi govt officer, accused of raping friend's teen daughter, arrested

Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said police have arrested the bureaucrat and his 50-year-old wife both in connection with the incident.

According to police, a 51-year-old deputy director in the Delhi government's Woman and Child Development Department and his spouse were detained on Monday for allegedly raping a little girl.

The bureaucrat and his 50-year-old wife have both been taken into custody by police in relation to the incident, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi. 

"Premoday Khakha and his spouse Seema Rani, who live in the Shakti Enclave in the Burari region, have been named as the accused. We call Seema a housewife. On August 13, the case was filed," Kalsi stated.


According to a senior police officer, Premoday Khakha has been accused of raping a teenage girl multiple times between November 2020 and January 2021. It is also said that Khakha's wife gave the girl medication to end her pregnancy. 

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had issued an order to suspend the government employee earlier in the day.According to officials, he also asked Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar for a report by 5:00 pm. 

Minister Atishi of Delhi, meanwhile, denied rumors that she had collaborated with an OSD officer, a government employee who has been charged in a minor rape case.She said, "This is a completely false thing," in an interview with ANI.As an OSD, he (the accused) has never collaborated with me."

After her father passed away on October 1, 2020, the girl was living at the home of the accused, a deputy director in the agency.Regarding the alleged rape of a Delhi government official, AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, "This is a horrifying affair...Humanity has been disgraced by this tragedy.By now, something ought to have been done.Since no action was taken, CMArvind Kejriwal himself mandated the official's suspension."

"A government officer who was sitting on the post of Deputy Director in the Women and Child Development Department has been accused of raping a 16-year-old minor girl and then trying to abort the pregnancy when she became pregnant," stated Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, in response to the allegations. 

We have sent a notice to Delhi Police asking why he hasn't been arrested yet. We are also sending a notice to the Delhi government asking what complaints they have received about him and what steps have been taken against him."
