Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur attacked Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday (August 7) over the Chinese financing issue into News Click, stating that the organization is running an anti-India, 'Break India' campaign.

"China provides funding to Neville Roy Singham." "He has a direct connection to China's propaganda arm," he claimed.

"Congress, China, and NewsClick are all connected by an umbilical cord." Chinese goods are readily visible in Rahul Gandhi's 'Nakli Mohabbat Ki Dukaan'. His affection for China is palpable. They had an anti-India agenda," he continued.

Thakur claimed that the company had "salesmen" in India who came to its aid when the 'Chinese-funded enterprise' was targeted.

"When we raised the issue, the Congress and its allies came out in support of NewsClick." They used to say that the Indian government is working against press freedom. "Chinese companies were funding NewsClick through Mogul Neville Roy Singham, but their salesmen were some Indians who came to their aid when action was taken against them," he explained.

The Minister stated that the fight against misinformation must continue.

"The money that came to NewsClick was given to Gautam Navlakha, who was charged under UAPA in the Bhima Koregaon case." When the ED works against NewsClick, the opposition raises concerns. "This is a war against misinformation, and it must continue," he stated.

"Will the Congress Party stoop so low for power as to support NewsClick?" "I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, if NewsClick was a part of the high-level meetings that you did, will Rahul Gandhi answer to the country if NewsClick exposed the propaganda and agenda in front of the entire world?" he said.

BJP aggressive on the issue in Lok Sabha

The BJP claimed on Monday (August 7) that News Click got Chinese money to push the country's political agenda around the world, citing a New York Times report.

The issue was raised in Lok Sabha by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey in regards to the presence of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who had not been in Parliament for months. His House membership was reinstated earlier today following the Supreme Court's stay of his conviction.

On Monday, August 7, the BJP claimed, citing a story from The New York Times, that News Click had accepted Chinese funding to further China's political agenda around the world.

The matter was brought up in the Lok Sabha by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey in the presence of newly elected Congressman Rahul Gandhi. His House membership was reinstated earlier today following the Supreme Court's stay of his conviction.

The BJP MP claimed that between 2004 and 2014, Congress received funding from the Chinese "every time India faced trouble."

"The NYT reported that News Click received a payment of Rs 38 crore. About the ED raids on News Click, NYT has written. How the money was distributed to nalaxites and how Chinese money was distributed to some individuals in order to foster an attitude hostile to India.

Between 2004 and 2014, whenever there was turmoil in India, the Chinese government sent money to Congress, whose FCRA license had been revoked by the Indian government, according to Dubey in Lok Sabha.

He further claimed that Congress is conspiring with China to "destroy" the nation.

Congress, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi were contacted in 2008 when the Olympics were hosted. He (pointing to Rahul Gandhi) was meeting and conversing with the Chinese in 2017 during the Doklam crisis. The 'Hindi-Chini bhai bhai' strategy of Nehru is what they aim to spread. In collusion with the Chinese, Congress, he claimed, intends to destroy the nation.

The government should look into all Chinese funding, Dubey advised.
