Court pronounces BJP MP to 2-year imprisonment in vandalism case
Uttar Pradesh: An MP-MLA court sentenced BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria of Etawah to two years in prison in 2012 for vandalism at a company in a mall.
"I appeared before the court normally," Katheria explained. Today, the court rendered a decision against me. I respect the court, I have the right to appeal, and I intend to do so."
In 2012, Katheria was accused of vandalizing the Torrent Power Company office. On Saturday, the MP-MLA court sentenced in this case.
The BJP MP received a two-year term under Section 147 and a one-year imprisonment under Section 323.
Who is Ram Shankar Katheria?
Ram Shankar Katheria is a Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. From November 2014 to July 2016, he was the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development.
Katheria has also chaired the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. He serves on the Standing Committee on Defence of Parliament and the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
