One of the highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to France was when President Emmanuel Macron hosted a banquet supper in his honor while he served as the Guest of Honor for the nation's National Day celebrations.
The event was planned for July 14, which is French National Day, at Paris' renowned Louvre Museum.
Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by French President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron and given an all-vegetarian buffet that had been specifically crafted.
At the banquet for PM Modi in Paris, the Oscar-winning song "Jai Ho" from the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" was played twice.
Jai Ho, with music by renowned composer AR Rahman, won the Best Original Song Academy Award at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009 and the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture Grammy Award at the 52nd Grammy Awards in 2010.
This vivacious and uplifting musical song from the British movie was an anthem with a worldwide spirit that fused Indian and Hispanic cultures.
A banquet was last given at the Louvre in 1953 for Queen Elizabeth. The museum was closed on the French National Day in order to host the banquet, despite the fact that it is often very busy on this day.
Even the thread for the vegetarian menu featured the Tricolor, breaking with rule that calls for using only French colors.
In his speech at the banquet dinner, PM Modi remarked that despite the world's many ups and downs over the past 25 years, the friendship between France and India has only gotten stronger. He claimed that the two countries have created a roadmap for the following 25 years and that their cooperation is a force for good in the world.
The globe has had many ups and downs and difficult periods over the past 25 years, but the friendship between France and India has continued to deepen, Prime Minister Modi remarked at the banquet meal Macron hosted. We have traveled a long and significant distance based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding. Our ties are improving in every way thanks to President Macron's personal efforts.
"For the next 25 years, we have created a roadmap. We are enhancing the security and peace of the entire planet in addition to the wellbeing of our two respective nations. Our alliance is a force for good on a global scale, PM Modi continued.
On Friday, while in France, PM Modi attended the Bastille Day ceremonies as the Guest of Honor. At President Macron's request, he traveled to France.
A 241-member tri-service contingent of the Indian armed forces, led by a military band, took part in the Parade to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership, according to a statement from the PMO.
The Rajputana Rifles Regiment followed the Punjab Regiment in command of the Indian Army's contingent. A squadron of Indian Air Force (IAF) Rafale aircraft took part in a flypast above the Champs-Elysees during the Bastille Day Parade while the Indian military contingent marched to the patriotic music of "Sare Jahan Se Accha" during the parade.
The Indian Air Force's 101 Squadron from Hashimara's Rafale Jets participated in the flypast during the event.
"A giant in world history, a strategic partner, a friend, and someone who will have a significant future role to play. President Macron stated, "We are honored to have India as our guest of honor at the parade on July 14."
During the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, PM Modi and President Emmanuel Macron had meetings with important dignitaries.
French President Emmanuel Macron also presented PM Modi with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor during his two-day visit.
The French and Indian constitutions both place a strong emphasis on liberty, equality, and fraternity, and July 14 is the anniversary of the French Revolution's storming of the Bastille prison on that day in 1789.
During his visit to France, PM Modi also met with French President Macron to discuss the full range of bilateral relations.
