I came here to apologise, I trusted wrong people: Sharad Pawar in Nashik

Sharad Pawar claimed he didn't want to point the finger at anyone. He admitted fault for the NCP issue, blaming it on a calculation error.

Supriya Sule shared a photo of Sharad Pawar drenched in rain as he reached Nashik

Sharad Pawar, drenched in rain, spoke at a rally in Nashik on Saturday, his first stop on a state tour to rebuild the Nationalist Congress Party after Ajit Pawar's revolt caused it to split. "I've come here to say I'm sorry. I made a mistake in believing certain people. Will not make the same error again," remarked Sharad Pawar. Sharad Pawar made fun of his nephew Ajit Pawar for calling him old and claimed anyone who do so will pay dearly for it. Sharad Pawar claimed that PM Modi should take action against the leaders he accused of corruption following his recent address in Bhopal, in which he accused NCP leaders of wrongdoing just days before Ajit Pawar and his allies joined the cabinet.

The Sharad Pawar camp reached out to the public on an emotional level at a rally on Saturday in Nashik despite the nonstop rain. This is in response to the recent intensification of the debate over who the true NCP is. On June 30, two days before taking the oath of office as the deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar declared his selection as the NCP's president. At the party's national executive conference in New Delhi, Sharad Pawar disputed Ajit Pawar's assertions and declared that all dissidents will be expelled from the organization.

Number game between Sharad Pawar versus Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar asserted that he had more MLAs on his side, but Praful Patel of the Ajit Pawar camp argued that there was no number game going on because the NCP had not split in any way. According to Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule won the Lok Sabha election whereas Praful Patel lost, and even after his loss, he was sent to the Rajya Sabha. This is in response to Praful Patel's alleged claim that Sharad Pawar bases all of his decisions on Supriya Sule.

'Don't raise the issue of my age'

Sharad Pawar advised not to bring up the subject of his age in a message for everyone, stating that he will continue to lead the party. Sharad Pawar stated earlier in the day that he is neither tired nor retired as he began the mission to rebuild his party while on a state trip. After Ajit Pawar publicly attacked Sharad Pawar over his age and suggested that it was time for him to leave politics, comments about Sharad Pawar's age and health (he has survived oral cancer) came under scrutiny.
