Gurugram violence: 'Refrain from violent actions'- US reacts to communal clashes | WATCH
Gurugram - the millennium city of India - witnessed communal violence on Tuesday as a mob torched a mosque in the city and killed an imam.
US spokesperson urged people to remain calm
In response to the communal violence in Gurugram, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller advised people to keep calm and avoid from taking aggressive action on Thursday.
When asked about the riots in Gurugram and adjacent areas, Miller stated, "Obviously, we would, as always, urge calm and urge parties to refrain from violent actions."In terms of whether we've heard from any Americans, I'm not aware of any. I'd be delighted to follow up with the Embassy."

To alleviate the situation in Nuh and surrounding regions, the authorities prolonged the suspension of mobile internet services until midnight on Sunday (August 5).The restriction was extended to Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal, and parts of Gurugram in Haryana in an effort to control the dissemination of misinformation in light of the recent unrest in the state.
In the midst of protest marches and protests planned in opposition to the violence in Nuh, Haryana, the Supreme Court earlier on Wednesday sent letters to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and both of those states. The next hearing was set for August 4 after the court sent notices regarding a plea regarding the violence in Haryana.A bench of the Supreme Court made up of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti heard the case.
Protests by VHP, Bajrang Dal
Members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) protested against the violence that erupted in the Nuh district of neighboring Haryana on July 31 in various locations throughout the national capital on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court further ordered the federal and state governments to prevent hate speech and violent acts from occurring in Delhi-NCR when the VHP and Bajrang Dal are holding marches.
Nuh violence
Following violence that broke out over an effort to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad march in Nuh on Monday, six persons have been confirmed dead and numerous more, including police officers, have been injured in various regions of Haryana.
Following the unrest in Nuh, crowds in Sohna set a shop and four cars on fire. In addition, a mosque in Gurugram's Sector 57 neighborhood was assaulted on Tuesday, killing the mosque's naib imam.
