On Sunday morning, a team of 55 Archaeological study of India (ASI) members resumed the scientific study of the Gyanvapi mosque complex to ascertain whether the 17th-century masjid was built atop a pre-existing Hindu temple construction. Prior to the arrival of the ASI team, a large police force was also deployed in the region.

According to lawyers, the first stage of the court-ordered survey of the Gyanvapi complex has been completed, and the secondary stage is underway with "machines" such as radars.

The survey was suspended for two hours at 12.30pm to allow Muslim worshipers to offer prayers in the mosque.

Top updates on the Gyanvapi mosque complex survey by ASI:

1. The survey includes advocates Vishnu Shankar Jain and Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, who represent the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case.

2."Be patient. The fourth day of the survey has arrived. The ASI is performing its duties admirably. Yesterday, the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) was employed. "The ground penetrating radar machine will be used for surveying in the near future," Jain stated. "We are satisfied with the survey, and the Muslim side has no complaints, and they are also cooperating," he said.

3. The scientific investigation of the complex, adjacent to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, excluding Wuzu Khana, resumed on Friday, following a decision from the Allahabad High Court allowing the ASI to perform the survey to ascertain whether the mosque was built on a pre-existing temple.

4. Plaintiff No. 1 Anupam Dwivedi, Rakhi Singh's lawyer, stated, "This ASI survey is different from the one conducted by the advocate commissioner last year (in May 2022)." Whatever was visible in that survey was mentioned in the report. Nobody was permitted to touch anything. The survey is being conducted in a scientific manner by the ASI team. The team is gathering evidence without digging or inflicting any harm."

5. The ASI team will most likely conduct the inspection on Sunday under the domes of the mosque grounds. The study was now underway at Gyanvapi's south basement, where the team conducted the survey on Saturday afternoon.

6. Earlier on Saturday, Sudhir Tripathi, another Hindu campaigner, stated that the scientific survey will clarify everything."We want people to participate in the survey and complete it as soon as possible."We are fully cooperating and participating. They have arrived at the request of the Supreme Court. We appreciate it. We want the situation to be rectified as soon as possible."The survey will clear everything up," the lawyer stated.

7. On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition filed by the Muslim party, Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, challenging a Varanasi court order allowing the ASI to conduct a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises, except the'Wazukhana' area where a "Shivling" was allegedly discovered last year. The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee had appealed the July 21 judgment of the Varanasi District Judge.

8. On the basis of an application filed by four Hindu women on May 16, Varanasi district judge AK Vishvesha ordered the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi complex on July 21. The district judge's ruling, however, excluded the complex's Wuzu Khana (ablution pond area), which had been shut by the Supreme Court's injunction.

9. The Supreme Court earlier declined to halt the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque premises in Varanasi.

10. The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee has appealed the high court ruling for ASI to conduct a scientific study of the Gyanvapi mosque grounds.
