On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India after Chandrayaan 3's Vikram lander successfully touched down on the South Pole of the moon.
In his message to the ISRO scientists, Modi, who practically watched the historic event from Johannesburg, South Africa, remarked, "This is historic movement and sounds the bugle for a developed India."
"Historic day for the space industry in India. The prime minister wrote on X, "Congratulations to @isro for the great success of Chandrayaan-3lunar mission.
The prime minister congratulated the ISRO scientists for their victory and stated, "Humne dharti par sankalp kiya aur chand pe usse sakaar kiya...India is now on the Moon."
Modi said the achievement would alter all myths and tales about the moon as India became the first nation to set foot on the lunar surface's south pole.
Despite being in South Africa, he declared, "My heart has always been with the Chandrayaan Mission."
At 6:04 local time, the Vikram lander made contact with the lunar surface, eliciting cheers and congratulations from the space experts in Bangalore.
India made history by being the first nation to land close to the little explored south pole, joining the United States, the Soviet Union, and China in accomplishing a lunar landing after an aborted effort nearly four years ago.
The Chandrayaan 3 mission, which had a 41-day journey to go close to the lunar south pole, was launched on July 14 aboard the Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM-3) rocket.
Days after Russia's Luna-25 spacecraft crashed onto the Moon after spinning out of control, the Vikramlander made a safe touchdown.
The lander and the six-wheeled rover, which together weigh 1,752 kg, are intended to function for one lunar day (about 14 Earth days).
The four-legged lander was equipped with a variety of instruments, including an accelerometer, an altimeter, a Doppler velocity meter, an inclinometer, a touchdown sensor, and a number of cameras for danger avoidance and situational awareness.
