Indian Consulate offers Hyderabad student Syeda Zaidi to fly back after she found starving on US streets

A week earlier, Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi from Hyderabad, who went to the US to pursue a master's degree, was found starving on the streets of Chicago.

The Indian Consulate General in Chicaon reported Saturday (Indian time) that they had offered medical and travel support to a Hyderabad woman who was found famished on the streets last week, adding that she is "fit."The Consulate General of India in Chicago posted on Twitter, "Happy that we could contact Ms SyedaZaidi&offered help, including medical assistance&travel to India."She is fit and has spoken to her mother in India.She has yet to react to our offer of assistance in returning to India.Westand is ready to offer her all-assistance."



A week earlier, Syeda LuluMinhaj Zaidi of Hyderabad, who had traveled to the United States to earn a master's degree, was discovered famished on the streets of Chicago.It was then revealed that all of her stuff had been stolen.She was in a bad mood.Amjed Ullah Khan, a spokesperson for the Telangana-based Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), brought the victim's condition to light.

 


Zaidi's mother had contacted MEA for help


Her mother, Syeda Wahaj Fatima, penned a letter to ExternalAffairsMinister S Jaishankar, urging him to "immediately intervene" and bring her daughter back "as soon as possible."

"This is to inform you that my daughter Syeda Lulu Minhaj Zaidi, resident of 41-48,Sadullal Nazar,Moula Ali,Medchal District,Telangana State, went to pursue her Master's in Information Science from TRINE University,Detroit,USA in August 2021 and was studying and in contact with us.

"For the past two months, she has not communicated with me, and we have learned through two Hyderabadi youngsters that my daughter is in serious depression and that her entire belongings have been taken, leaving her on the edge of famine and being spotted on the streets of Chicago, USA," the letter said. 

Please contact the Indian Embassy if you have any questions. Washington DC, USA, and the Indian Consulate in Chicago, USA, to step in right away and bring my daughter back to India as soon as feasible. Action that needs to be taken in this regard may be informed," she continued. According to an MBT spokeswoman, they have pleaded with Jaishankar, minister of external affairs, to bring her home.


She is not in a condition to go right now, according to the response I got from the Indian Consulate in Chicago and the Ministry of External Affairs to my tweet.

We're attempting to transport her parents to Chicago to look after the girl. There are no passports for the parents. We have pleaded with Telangana's IT Minister KTR to assist us in obtaining for them passports and visas from the US Consulate in Hyderabad. Numerous people and organizations have expressed interest in visiting the US, he said. 

"The government also responded right away. We appreciate all the organizations that have stepped forward to support them, including Jaishankar, EAM, the Indian Consulate in Chicago, and Khan continued.
