Nuh Hotel From Where Stones Were Thrown At Religious Procession Demolished

Nuh demolition drive: 50 to 60 structures in different areas have been demolished so far. Many have fled, fearing arrests.

Nuh: The latest flashpoint between two populations in the violent state of Haryana is a large demolition effort against "illegal" structures in the Nuh area.

On the fourth day of the demolition campaign, the Nuh district government dispatched bulldozers to tear down the Sahara Hotel.

The violence in Nuh is thought to have started on Monday when some individuals threw stones from the Sahara Hotel roof towards a religious procession. The 2,500 or so people fled into a temple to find safety as a crowd threw stones at the procession.

On Saturday, over a dozen businesses, including pharmacies, were destroyed. This week, migrant shanties in Tauru, which is roughly 20 miles from Nuh, a city plagued by violence, were demolished for intruding on public property.

According to officials, some of the stores and homes being destroyed belonged to persons who were part in the most recent skirmishes.

So far, between 50 and 60 buildings have been destroyed in various locations.Fearing arrest, several others have left.

Three days of bulldozer activity have been taking place in Nuh, according to reports. Authorities are allegedly focusing on unlawful encroachments that have been difficult to remove for years.

Six persons lost their lives in the racial riots that broke out in Nuh on Monday when a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession was attacked by crowds, including two home guards and a priest.

As the evening wore on, the violence worsened; after midnight, a mosque was set on fire, and more than a hundred vehicles were vandalized and destroyed in Nuh and the nearby city of Gurugram.

Anil Vij, the home minister for Haryana, claimed there was "a big game plan" behind the violence but also denied assertions from the opposition that there had been an intelligence failure. A mastermind behind the clashes has not yet been identified, according to Nuh Superintendent of Police.

Over 216 people have been detained and 106 first information reports (FIRs) have been filed thus far; 24 FIRs concern social media posts, and four people have been detained for material that may have incited violence.
