"Our PM Said Jai Shri Ram, Lord Curzon Would Have Choked": UK Envoy
"India has broken the mould on how to do the G20 presidency - the scale and ambition to tackle big problems of the world, like global hunger, low growth and poverty," the UK's envoy to India Alex Ellis said at the NDTV G20 Conclave.

New Delhi: According to Alex Ellis, the UK's envoy to India, the scope of India's development and its gravitas in the global order may be gauged using two straightforward metrics.
One is how India has established a significant bar for the management of the G20 presidency, Mr. Ellis stated at today's NDTV G20 Conclave.
The other, according to Mr. Ellis, is how Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of Indian descent who represents Britain stated "Jai ShriRam" on August 15, the day of Indian Independence.
"India tops the UK's student, visitor, and skilled worker visa rankings... Did you ever think that on August 15, someone residing at 10 Downing Street would say Jai Shri Ram? According to Mr. Ellis, Lord Curzon would have choked.
India, according to Mr. Ellis, has a tremendous scope and aspiration to address global issues.
With its scope and ambition to address major global issues like world hunger, slow growth, and poverty, he claimed that India had "broken the mold" for how to conduct the G20 presidency.
"There is long-term interest in India. The invasion of Ukraine demonstrates how polarized our globe is. India will continue to play a crucial role in the global economy, and Mr. Ellis emphasized that we must find a way to deal with Russia.
Atul Keshap, a former US ambassador, claimed that pragmatic, forward-looking nations, including democracies like India, have an even larger importance to one another. He argued that the conflict in Ukraine must come to an end.
"We must concentrate on putting a stop to human misery... India has been extraordinarily kind to its neighbors... According to Mr. Keshap, both India and the US are responding to problems in a very positive and productive way.
Regarding the size of the G20 Summit, Mr. Ellis stated that this coalition contributes at least 80% of the global gross domestic product (GDP).
