Following a petition filed by the Haryana Wrestling Association (HWA), the Punjab and Haryana High Court delays the voting set for Saturday, August 12, in a significant step involving the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections.
In an attempt to stop HAWA from participating in WFI elections, the Haryana Wrestling Association filed a lawsuit with the court.Deepinder Hooda, a member of parliament, is the organization's leader, and it has official ties to both the WFI and the Haryana Olympic Association (HOA).
A state organization is allowed to send two members to vote in its elections under WFI guidelines. However, Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association has asserted that they are associated with the WFI and are eligible to vote in elections. The Haryana Wrestling Association revealed that the HAWA is not associated with the HOA and is therefore ineligible to vote through attorney Ravinder Malik.
According to the returning officer, the Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association satisfies the requirements for affiliation with the WFI and the Haryana Olympic Association, according to Ravinder Malik's statement to PTI.
The Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association may be linked with the WFI, but it is not affiliated with the HOA, hence they are not permitted to participate in the election process, according to our legal argument in challenging the returning officer's order before the HC. If the Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association is permitted to take part in the election, both the WFI polls and the election process will be tainted.
Allowing the Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association to vote, according to Justice Vinod S. Bhardwaj of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, will lead to prejudice.
