Moscow: On Saturday, Russia claimed to have shot down 20 unmanned Ukrainian drones in the vicinity of the Crimean Peninsula, where Kiev has intensified its attacks.

The defence ministry announced on the Telegram messaging platform that air defense systems shot down 14 drones and destroyed six more using electronic warfare.

It said there were no injuries or property damage.

Governor Vladislav Shapsha announced on Telegram that a drone was also caught in the Kaluga area, roughly 150 kilometers (95 miles) southwest of Moscow.

The latest in a series of attacks on the city in recent days, officials in Moscow announced on Friday that they had destroyed a drone that was directed towards the capital.

The defense ministry reported that a Ukrainian drone was shot down over Moscow's western suburbs, although there were no injuries or property losses as a result of the event.

Drone attacks from Ukraine on Crimea in July destroyed an ammo storage facility and harmed the Kerch Strait bridge that connects the peninsula to Russia's mainland.

Russia seized control of Crimea in 2014.

In the southern Zaporizhzhia area of Ukraine, Russian strikes on Saturday resulted in the death of a policeman and the injury of 12 other individuals.

The Kharkiv region also saw the death of a man, according to local authorities

According to Governor Sergiy Lysak, a missile attack targeted Kryvyi Rig, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and three Iranian-made Shahed drones were destroyed above Zaporizhzhia.
