Speaking for the National Security Council, Adrienne Watson wrote in an email that "the US was deeply concerned about the allegations disclosed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau."
It is crucial that Canada's probe continue and the offenders are prosecuted, Ms. Watson added.

Khalistani terrorists and fanatics, who have been given "shelter in Canada and continue to threaten India's sovereignty and territorial integrity," are the target of "such unsubstantiated" charges, according to the foreign ministry.
In retaliation for Canada's expulsion of a senior Indian diplomat, India likewise expelled a top Canadian diplomat today.
The Indian government decided to expulse a top Canadian diplomat stationed there, the ministry reported. "The High Commissioner of Canada to India was summoned today and informed of the decision," it stated.
Unnamed Canadian diplomat has been given five days to depart the country.
India classified Nijjar, who is based in Canada, as a "terrorist."In Surrey, he was shot and killed in June by unidentified assailants next to a gurdwara.
The newrow brought already tense relations between Ottawa and New Delhi to a shocking new low.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with his Canadian colleague at the G 20 Summit in Delhi earlier this month and voiced "strong concerns about the continuing anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada."
